Warranty Policy

A spares counter does not manufacture what it sells, so the warranty on a part is the maker's. What we owe you is the right part, the invoice that proves the sale, and the work of taking a claim to the manufacturer and telling you honestly what they said.

Last updated 29 August 2026

1. Whose warranty it is

We are a distributor and a retailer, not a manufacturer. Every part we sell carries the warranty of the company that made it, on that company's terms, for that company's period. We do not add a separate warranty of our own on top, and we cannot extend, shorten or override the manufacturer's.

What we do is stand behind the sale: we supply the correct part, we produce the invoice that proves when and where you bought it, and we take the claim to the manufacturer on your behalf.

2. What the warranty is, by category

Toyota genuine parts
Covered by the manufacturer's warranty for genuine parts, on Toyota's published terms. Alagendran Automobiles is a Certified Toyota Genuine Parts Distributor and raises these claims through that channel.
Yamaha genuine parts
Covered by the manufacturer's warranty for genuine Yamaha parts. The group has served as a Yamaha Genuine Parts Distributor for more than 25 years and raises claims through the Yamaha channel.
OEM parts
Parts made by the original equipment supplier and sold in that supplier's packaging carry that supplier's warranty. The period and terms vary by supplier and by part.
Quality aftermarket parts
Warranty is given by the aftermarket brand and varies widely — some lines carry a defined period, others cover manufacturing defect only, and some carry none at all. Ask at the counter before you buy and we will tell you exactly what that line carries.
Helmets
Vega, Axor, SMK, Studds, Steelbirds — covered by the manufacturer's warranty against manufacturing defect, on that brand's terms. Certification marks on a helmet are the manufacturer's, not ours.
Lubricants & consumables
Covered against manufacturing defect or contamination in a sealed pack only. Once opened, no warranty applies.
Yarn
Alagendran Spinning Mill supplies against the count and specification confirmed on the order. Quality claims are raised against the lot and the dispatch documents.

3. What warranty does not cover

No manufacturer's warranty covers these, and neither can we:

  • Normal wear — brake pads and shoes, clutch plates, filters, belts, bulbs, wiper blades, tyres, batteries beyond their stated life, and other service items consumed in use.
  • Incorrect fitment — a part fitted to a vehicle or variant it was not made for.
  • Poor fitment — damage caused during installation, forcing, over-torquing, using the wrong tool, or fitting without the required gaskets, seals or fluids.
  • Fitment outside an authorised workshop, where the brand's warranty requires the work to be done at one.
  • Accident, impact, flood and fire damage.
  • Misuse, overloading, racing, modification or tampering, including altered part numbers or removed labels.
  • Continued use after a fault appeared — running an engine after a warning, or driving on a failing component, where that made the damage worse.
  • Consequential loss — towing, hire of a replacement vehicle, loss of earnings, or damage to other parts. Warranty covers the defective part itself.
  • Any claim without the original GST tax invoice.

4. Helmets — a specific safety note

A helmet that has taken an impact must be replaced, not repaired or re-used, even where no damage is visible from outside. The shell and the liner are designed to absorb one impact. Impact damage is not a manufacturing defect and is not covered by any helmet warranty.

Warranty on a helmet covers manufacturing defect — a failed shell bond, a defective visor mechanism, faulty strap hardware, delaminating liner. It does not cover scratches, fading, wear to the padding, a lost visor, or damage from a fall.

Helmets are also not returnable once the seal is broken or the helmet has been worn, for hygiene reasons — see the Return Policy. Please try the size at the counter before you buy.

5. How to bring a claim

  1. Stop using the part as soon as you suspect a fault. Continued use can void the claim.
  2. Contact us on +91 98432 87130, on WhatsApp, or at manager@alagendran.com — or bring the part to the counter at #177/1, North Veli Street, Simmakkal, Madurai – 625001, Tamil Nadu.
  3. Bring the part and the original GST invoice. Where the vehicle is involved, bring the service record and the fitment details too.
  4. Tell us what happened — the symptom, when it started, the reading on the odometer, and who fitted the part.
  5. We inspect and, where required, refer. Manufacturer-warranty claims go to the brand for assessment; their finding decides the outcome.
  6. Outcome. Where a claim is allowed, the remedy is repair or replacement of the part on the manufacturer's terms. Where a replacement is not possible, the Refund Policy applies.

6. How long a claim takes

Claims we can settle at the counter — a clear defect on a part we stock — are usually settled the same day or the next. Claims that have to go to the manufacturer take as long as that manufacturer's process takes, and we will tell you where the claim stands when you ask.

We do not hold the manufacturer's decision back from you and we do not add a margin to their assessment. Where a claim is rejected, we will pass on the reason given.

7. Service work and labour

Work carried out at the group's Yamaha Service branches is covered by the workmanship terms of the Yamaha service programme, and claims about a job are raised with the branch that carried it out — each branch holds its own job cards. Genuine parts fitted during that work carry the manufacturer's parts warranty as set out above.

8. Your statutory rights

This policy describes the manufacturers' warranties and how we administer them. It does not reduce your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or the Sale of Goods Act, 1930, which apply regardless of what any warranty document says.
